(Part of a stone wall that Stephen built)

Was anything built?
Was anyone the builder?

Stephen Fulder, Ph.D, is one of Israel’s leading spiritual teachers, founder of the Israel Insight Society (Tovana). He has been teaching Buddhist teachings and meditation  practice to thousands of people over the last 20 years. He  draws on 40 years of deep personal experience of Vipassana/ Mindfulness meditation and dharma practice  as well as the immeasurable wisdom of the Buddhist tradition, to help us to rediscover the magic of the moment, and the great heart and big mind that lies just under the surface. This site makes available hundreds of talks, reflections  and articles in English and Hebrew as well as guided meditations, both for beginners and those with prior experience. In addition there are materials on herbal remedies, about which Stephen has written many books.

The book, in English, can be ordered post free.

My new book is out!!

I am really excited to announce that my new book The Five Powers is published, after 3 years work!  It has turned out to be such a beautiful dharma book, full of stunning illustrations which amplify the text. I myself was knocked over when I saw it!

A few words about The Five Powers (Bala in the Pali language):

They are Trust, Energy, Mindfulness, Calm and Wisdom -   the basic equipment that we all need to transform our lives.

They are the essence of Buddhist inspired teachings, highly developed, extraordinarily effective, sublime and yet very practical.

The book offers guidelines on how to develop and explore capacities which we may have neglected, that will help us to make transitions, and to live a meaningful and fulfilled daily life whatever the circumstances.

The Buddhist teaching of The Five Powers - Trust, Energy, Mindfulness, Calm and Wisdom -  (Bala in the Pali language) are the basic equipment that we all need to transform our life. ‘Dependent Origination’ - Buddhist Path to Freedom.

An Online Course of Study and Practice

How do we create our experience and how in each moment can we free or imprison ourselves? Why does life seem such a struggle?  How can I understand birth and death, and at the same time the timeless and deathless? What is consciousness?

This is a fundamental and yet most profound Buddhist teaching that is the basis of Buddhist psychology, and insight into perennial questions about reality that keep arising. It is taught here in an easily understandable, daily life, practical way.

“Stephen Fulder takes us deep into Buddhist wisdom...  He has a beautiful teaching style – clear, patient, thorough without being ponderous, unpretentious, deeply felt, and authoritative without being dogmatic”. S.L. Swarthmore, PA, USA

‘Who Am I?’ Buddhist View of Self

A practical and down-to-earth guide to Anatta

As soon as we start to explore who or what we are, a new landscape is revealed, rich with insights: 'Who is in charge of my life?'  'How can I dissolve the sense of separation between me and the world?'  'How can we get ourselves out of the way?' ‘What is the experience of the limitless?’

Buddhist practice to discover the self and what is beyond (‘Anatta’) helps us peel off layers of conditioning and beliefs and live more wisely, more lightly and more freely.

An online course consisting of 8 video talks, 8 guided meditations, written materials, exercises and you can meet Stephen online.

My new book:

What's Beyond Mindfulness?

Waking Up to This Precious Life

This is a book for everyone - clear, practical and with the power to imbue your life once more with the sense of magic and mystery you felt as a child. It will allow you to put down the burdens of anxiety, joylessness, stress or a judging mind, and shift your experience of the world in a truly profound way.

Mindfulness - or the practice of awareness - is increasingly popular but represents just one strand of the incredibly rich and fulfilling Buddhist approach to life. Exploring how to be fulfilled at work, how to age wisely, how to dissolve difficult emotions, how to be truly authentic and much, much more, this book reveals how to live a liberated life and shows exactly how Buddhist concepts and practice such as compassion, joy, ease, mindfulness and awakening can bring radical change to your life.

A Soft Green  Touch

Stephen Fulder

A gentle touch on the shoulder
A reminder to return
A Zen master wielding a feather
Brushing me into awareness
It was a soft green spring leaf
The carob tree stroking its guest

> Disappearing and Re-appearing of Stephen Fulder:  A New Research Paper on Experiences of Non-Self

A new research paper has just been published which is an interesting exploration of the nature of anatta (non-self). In it I am the sole subject describing the experience of instant and intentional dissolution and restoration of self. It is a very finely tuned inquiry into my subjective experiences of no boundary, combined with objective measures and analysis, and as such is a groundbreaking paper which may be of interest both to researchers and also spiritual practitioners. I enjoyed working with Yochai and the other researchers because of the precision with which they brought to the inquiry. Do spread this report around to all who may find it interesting... Read More
